When Nikon announced the Nikon Z 24-70 f/2.8 S lens there were a lot of questions about how its performance would compare to the F-mount and f/4 lenses. This is however one of the best 24-70 f/2.8 zoom lenses Nikon has ever made.

In a previous post I wrote about selling my Nikon NIKKOR F-mount lenses in order to make space and offset the costs of moving to a fully mirrorless system. After a while searching various online camera stores I finally was able to replace my older lenses with new Z-mount equivalents - well almost.

After spending around two years testing the Nikon Z6 mirrorless interchangeable lens camera (MILC) due to weight lifting issues after a serious medical episode I have finally decided that I am ready to fully embrace the mirrorless era in photography.

The Nikon Z 24-70 f/4 S lens was one of the first Z-mount lenses released by Nikon and was often supplied as part of a kit with the Z6 and Z7 cameras, however this lens is part of Nikon’s S-Line meaning it is much more than a standard cheap kit lens.
